The Evertonians in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait for their new signings to get started in the league next season.

Everton have been underperforming for quite some time now.

Realistically with some of the teams they’ve put together in recent years, they should be pushing for Europa League football at a minimum instead of finishing 14 points off fifth spot like they did last season.

Ronald Koeman has obviously got some major plans for the club given the number of players he has brought into the club this window, with Keane from Burnley and Wayne Rooney re-joining being the biggest of the transfers so far.

With all these fresh faces, there are bound to be departures and given their disappointments of the past few seasons, it is easy to point out whose Everton career is in a steep decline.

With that being said, here are two Everton players whose careers at the club are well and truly going downhill.

Ross Barkley

Three/four years ago, Ross Barkley was supposed to be the nation’s crown jewel with the hopes of the future national team seemingly already resting on his young shoulders.

Now, he is out of favour at Everton and with the likely huge price tag on him, that no club wants to match, he may have to wait for his contract to run out next year before he can move on to a new club.

Had Everton intended to sell him a few seasons ago, every top club in England would have fought for his signature, not so much now. What a fall from grace.

Ashley Williams

The 32-year-old joined Everton from Swansea this time last year, after he captained the Wales national team to the Euro 2016 semi-final.

An impressive achievement, however since then, it has been average performances. Not necessarily bad performances, just not what Everton fans thought they would be getting with Williams joining them.

Now with Michael Keane having just joined for £30 million from Burnley, Williams may struggle to gain a spot in the first team and will most likely have to put up with sitting on the bench most weeks.
