The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news that their young midfielder, Oriol Rey has signed a new two-year deal with the Whites, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2019/20 season, after signing from Barcelona last summer. In his time at Leeds he’s been a key feature for the club’s U23 side, making 30 appearances in the development league and scoring two goals. The young Spanish midfielder looks set to feature more frequently in the first-team next season after a highly successful debut year with the club’s U23 side. Rey recently featured in both games in the club’s AYA Bank tour of Myanmar where they played out friendly games against a Myanmar National League All-stars side and the Myanmar National team.
Oriol Rey has become the second U23 player to sign a contract extension at the club, as Bryce Hosannah also signed a new two-year deal at Elland Road. Rey and Hosannah will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Tom Pearce and Paudie O’Connor who have all made their senior debuts this season after being promoted from the academy system at the club and being thrown a chance by Paul Heckingbottom in the first-team.
