Liverpool’s season is rapidly fizzling out.
With elimination from the Champions League and domestic cup competitions already confirmed, their only remaining objective is to secure a top-four finish.
For a side that invested heavily last summer, it has been an underwhelming campaign — and one that now points firmly towards a significant rebuild.
A number of high-profile departures are expected, with Mohamed Salah among those set to leave. But he may not be the only big name sacrificed as the club looks to reshape its squad.
Mac Allister Tipped to Leave Liverpool
According to The Telegraph, Liverpool could see as many as nine players depart this summer — and in a surprising development, Alexis Mac Allister is among those being considered for a potential exit.
The Argentine midfielder, previously described as “sensational” by Alan Shearer, has been a key figure since arriving at Anfield, but his situation is not entirely secure. With two years remaining on his contract and no progress made on an extension, uncertainty has begun to creep in.
There is also reported interest from several European clubs, who are monitoring his situation closely as Liverpool weigh up how best to fund their next phase of rebuilding.
While players like Joe Gomez, Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones are also mentioned as possible departures, Mac Allister’s inclusion stands out given his importance to the side.
A slight dip in form this season, combined with the club’s need to generate funds, means even established starters may not be untouchable if the right offer arrives.
Letting Mac Allister go would be a bold — and potentially risky — call from Liverpool. But with a major overhaul looming, tough decisions are inevitable. If a significant bid lands, the club may decide that no player, no matter how important, is completely off the table as they attempt to reset for the seasons ahead.
