Metro certainly have Liverpool fans turning away from their pints for a second here in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening.
This is because the publication seem to think that the Reds are desperate to push through a £14 million move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi before Monday’s transfer deadline.
The Argentine has been linked with the Merseyside club for some time now and it seems that whilst Brendan Rodgers is leaving it late, the club are expected to seal a deal before the deadline passes.
We think that is a very good thing with Lavezzi’s time at PSG clearly up and Liverpool desperate for some more creativity and more vitally, a lethal instinct up top.
With Daniel Sturridge returning and the rested Raheem Sterling clearly enjoying a new lease of life, the Reds could well see Lavezzi as the final piece in the puzzle as they look to quality for the Champions League in the second half of the season.
That said, we think that the 29-year-old will certainly want to receive guaranteed playing time, something that has been a huge problem for him at the Parc Des Princes of late.
