Having achieved a four place position in the league and a Champions League final, last season for Jurgen Klopp and his players would have been considered an almighty success. Considering that Liverpool were one of two teams only to beat Man City in the league, it seems that with the addition of a few quality players, the Reds could really be capable of challenging the Citizens to the title. The 23-year-old has been an effective player for the Spanish side ever since joining them in 2015. Castillejo has bags of pace and energy, which would help massively when beating a man down the wing and his end product is more often than not inviting for his team-mates to attack and dispatch. Last season, the Spaniard scored 6 and assisted 7 league goals as Villarreal ended the La Liga campaign in 5th position.
Liverpool’s best form has been largely down to the three attackers that have dominated the majority of teams they’ve faced this season. Saido Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino have all been influential in attack but whether they can deliver that same dynamic form again isn’t known for sure. Therefore, recruiting another top forward like Castillejo will add variety to their attack as the Spaniard can fit in anywhere and would still be capable of doing a job for the Reds.
