It’s already hotting up in the Football Transfer Tavern for Liverpool fans in what is expected to be another hectic summer for manager Brendan Rodgers.
Yesterday we reported that Asmir Begovic looks set to become the first addition at Anfield and today’s Mirror suggests that Porto wing man Christian Atsu, who is valued at around £3 million, is next on the list for Rodgers.
The 21-year-old is out of contract at the Portuguese club next summer and that has brought him to the attentions of scouts at Anfield who are looking to replace Stuart Downing in a bargain swoop.
The player this week outlined his desire to play in the Premier League, saying: “There are times when we have to think about following our dreams and this is the time to follow my dream.
“Since I started playing football I have dreamt to play in the Premier League. I will be sad to leave Porto but if I leave I would want my future to be in England.”
He is thought to favour a move to Tottenham’s White Hart Lane in order to work under former Porto boss Villas-Boas but with no suggestions of interest from Spurs he may yet move to Anfield.
