Rennes winger, Sylvain Marveaux, is rumoured to be a transfer target for Liverpool and Chelsea.
The 24 year-old enjoyed a successful season in France last year, scoring 12 goals and claiming 5 assists in 38 games, and having continued his good form into the current campaign, Marveaux is now attracting interest from abroad.
The talented Frenchman has been linked with a move to Manchester United in the past, yet Liverpool and Chelsea have now emerged as the two front-runners for his signature.
Roy Hodgson will apparently be happy to wait until next summer to sign Marveaux, when the player will be able to leave Rennes on a free transfer; however, Carlo Ancelotti is said to be planning a January swoop for the midfielder to pre-empt his Premier League rivals.
Rennes value their man at £8m, and it seems that Hodgson may have to lodge a bid for Marveaux in January or risk losing out to Chelsea. However, Liverpool are unlikely to be drawn into a bidding war over the winger.
