Loads of Liverpool fans agreed with the views of journalist David Maddock after the Reds surpassed a year without failing to score at Anfield and looked towards the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash against Atletico Madrid.
The Reds lost 1-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano in what was an unhappy return to the same venue where they won their sixth European crown last June. Saul Niguez scored the only goal of the game in the fourth minute as Jurgen Klopp’s side were unable to break down Los Colchoneros. To top off what was a poor evening, they failed to register a single shot on target.
David Maddock of the Mirror highlighted on Twitter (via @MaddockMirror) that the Merseyside club surpassed a whole year since they failed to score on their hallowed turf in all competitions, and highlighted that any fear of an inevitable Atleti shut-out is “greatly exaggerated”.
