Liverpool have been fantastic once again this campaign, much like they were last season.
At the end of the 2018/19 term, they finished just one point behind Manchester City, managing 97 themselves, whilst they also won the Champions League. This season, they have improved in the league, and are now 25 points clear at the top of the table – it is the biggest such margin in the English top-tier history.
Virgil van Dijk has been an ever-present once again, playing every minute of every match for a backline that has conceded the least goals in the top flight. Charlie Nicholas, though, clearly isn’t too impressed with his performances this term. He said of the Netherlands international: “Has he been as good as last year? No. He looks cumbersome and sluggish at times, but his pace can rescue him.”
