Liverpool fans will – rightly – be excited about the young players rising through their ranks considering they beat a very strong Everton side, on paper, to go through in the FA Cup. However, centre-back Sepp Van Den Berg isn’t looking all that popular.
Indeed, the Dutch 18-year-old has played for the Reds three times, all in the Carabao Cup, and was signed by Liverpool from PEC Zwolle in the summer. Since, he’s played eight times in the youth domestic division, Premier League 2, and five times in the UEFA Youth League, with former Manchester United defender Japp Stam once labelled him a ‘very talented player’.
Furthermore, the Daily Express noted how the teenager ‘bossed the middle against stronger opponents’ despite the Reds’ 5-0 loss to Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup and the Daily Mirror wrote of how ‘you can see the potential’ following his performance against Arsenal in the same competition.
Still, it seems Liverpool fans don’t agree. In fact, some of them they’ve slated him in the past for his poor performances in the Carabao Cup and now these fans have turned on him again after a fan tweeted to point out how talented the Reds’ youth set up was.
He included Van Den Berg in the list of names fans should look out for and the reaction to that was pretty negative by most.
– Harvey Elliot
– Curtis Jones
– Ki-Jana Hoever
– Yasser Larouci
– Paul Glatzel
– Neco Williams
– Van Den BergPeople overlook our youth but in reality it’s actually very good. Don’t sleep on them.

Really skeptical about van den Berg, I know he’s 18 but during that Villa game I expected Kelleher, Hoever, VdB, Chirivella and Elliot to look good as they’re the names we’d seen, vdB and Kelleher were woeful
