Liverpool may be thriving in the early weeks of the 2019/20 season, with their 100% Premier League record still intact and an eight-point lead at the summit, but it is not shaping up to be a campaign to remember for Reds winger Xherdan Shaqiri.

A calf injury has kept him out of the Reds’ last four games, while his last appearance came in mid-September when he was given six minutes as a substitute in the 3-1 win over Newcastle. [via TransferMarkt]
His frequent absences from the team have prompted Liverpool-focused Twitter channel @AnfieldWatch to ask its followers if they think Shaqiri should be given a bigger part to play in the Reds’ line-up.
Does Xherdan Shaqiri deserve more game time at Liverpool, Reds? #LFC pic.twitter.com/HYyodPifZ3

The 27-year-old made 30 appearances last season and scored six goals, two of which came in a 3-1 win over Manchester United last December, but that has been unable to earn him a regular spot in Liverpool’s starting XI, with Mohamed Salah the Reds’ most utilised right-winger.
These Liverpool fans on Twitter believe that Shaqiri deserves a fairer chance to show what he can do at Anfield:
Man is world class attacker, he needs to brush up on his defence too. We need a Mo Salah replacement and he can do the job, he needs game time to improve as well

Salah has been kinda off tune this season…best time for shaq to step in and take advantage

… Oh by the way. Remember who replaced MO Salah’s place on the epic and historical victory over Barcelona.

YES! He is fast, have good technique with the ball and he can pass the ball perfectly! I hope he gets more play time soon

Shaq should be given more game time, he is good with the ball, his passes and crosses are always on point and he is a dead ball specialist. He should just work hard and try to give Klopp a selection headache coz he is world class.

He surely deserve some minutes in the game. I know most of the time, Klopp brings him on in the second half. Thus, I’m sure that Shaqiri can spring a surprise in the game when he comes in.
