Plenty of Liverpool fans have been debating Jurgen Klopp’s latest decision that senior players will head to warm-weather camps to work on their fitness during the winter break.
The uncertainty derives from last season, where the Reds returned from Marbella and drew to both Manchester United and Everton respectively which meant that they finished 2nd in the Premier League title race to Manchester City. Jurgen Klopp decided for himself and his players to have two weeks off during the newly-imposed winter break by the league. He said following his side’s 2-2 draw against Shrewsbury Town that he will be leaving U23s coach Neil Critchley and his side to play in the FA Cup replay at Anfield.
Anfield Watch revealed on Twitter (via @AnfieldWatch) that players will head to warmer climates to maintain their condition as they try to win the club’s first league title in 30 years. Before last night’s game with West Ham, the Merseysiders were seven victories away from winning the league. Despite this, supporters could not agree on whether warm-weather camps were a good idea and made their feelings clear on social media.
One fan worried that it could be the beginning of his side’s collapse, reminiscing to last season where Liverpool’s form slightly dipped. Whereas another stated that Klopp made the right call.
