Liverpool: Fans delighted as Reds turn down Roma loan swoop for Xherdan Shaqiri

Liverpool fans have exploded with delighted after it was revealed that the Reds turned down a loan offer from the Italian side Roma for Xhedan Shaqiri, Fabrizio Romano revealed.

The 28-year-old has been a fringe player in Jurgen Klopp’s side during the current campaign, having only made six Premier League appearances this season. However, the German tactician does not want to be put in a situation where he will be short of weapons in his armoury as they look to add three more trophies to their cabinet this season, as per the Express. The Switzerland international suffered a calf injury earlier in the season and missed one month’s worth of action, with the manager stating that his recovery took longer than expected due to the size of Shaqiri’s calves.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Roma wanted Shaqiri on loan until the end of the season due to the serious injury to midfielder Nicolo Zanioli. Supporters were happy that Shaqiri would remain at Anfield for the rest of the current campaign and made their feelings clear on social media.
