Liverpool: Fans delighted to see Paul Glatzel signing a new contract at Anfield

Teenage Liverpool striker Paul Glatzel has committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term contract with the Reds, as highlighted by the club’s official Twitter account @LFC.

LiverpoolFC.com reported that the 18-year-old had put pen to paper on a new deal at Anfield as he continues his rehabilitation from a lengthy knee injury suffered in a pre-season friendly against Tranmere two months ago.

The youngster scored 21 times in 30 appearances for Liverpool’s youth and reserve teams in 2018/19 (one goal every 1.43 games), with 11 goals to his name in 15 matches in the Under-18 Premier League (one goal per 1.36 games).

He played a key role in Liverpool’s FA Youth Cup success last season, scoring eight times in six matches (1.33 goals per game) in that cup run.

Glatzel’s commitment to the club comes just a few days after Bobby Duncan, another member of Liverpool’s FA Youth Cup-winning side, left for Fiorentina in acrimonious circumstances following accusations by his agent that Liverpool initially forced him to stay at Anfield against his own will, according to The Guardian.
