Liverpool: Fans delighted with Gary Neville’s recent comments on Mohamed Salah

Gary Neville has waxed lyrical about the growth of Mohamed Salah and the integral role he plays in the current Liverpool squad.

Speaking on Sky Sports on Monday night, the Manchester United icon took the time to highlight the Egyptian’s quality (via @LFCTransferRoom).

“That is some player,” Neville said. “When he got those 40 odd goals I thought, ‘that’s a freak, he won’t be able to live with that’.

“And then he consistently produces over a period of two or three years.”

Indeed, Salah notched an astonishing 32 goals in 36 Premier League games, which made his debut season total 44 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions (via Transfermarkt).

The winger won the Golden Boot that year as well as the following campaign alongside teammate Sadio Mane. He missed out last term to Jamie Vardy but will undoubtedly be eager to reclaim the accolade this time round. Salah’s hat-trick against Leeds has certainly put him in good stead to challenge for it.

Loads of Liverpool fans are delighted with Neville’s unusually positive comments about one of their players. So much so that they have taken to Twitter to show their appreciation.

Nice to hear Salah getting praised but this narrative that he’s not a team player needs to go. He’s had the most assists out of all our forwards for every season he’s been with Liverpool.
