Liverpool: Fans delighted with the new Bob Paisley statue at Anfield

Loads of Liverpool fans were delighted with the club after they revealed a statue of club legend Bob Paisley.

A permanent tribute to the late former manager carrying an injured Emlyn Hughes was placed outside the club’s superstore at Anfield on Thursday in his memory. A ceremony took place with a host of former players such as Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush attending to pay their respects to their former boss. The statue was commissioned by shirt sponsor Standard Chartered to commemorate their 10-year connection with the Merseyside club, as per the Daily Mail.

Paisley is the most successful manager in the club’s history and won three European Cups, six first division titles, three league cups and a UEFA Cup. Supporters were delighted to see the club marking their gratitude and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that his statue was “long overdue”, while another stated that the gesture was “absolutely class”.
