Former England international and now talkSPORT pundit Danny Mills has insisted that Jurgen Klopp has only won one trophy of significance as Liverpool manager.
The radio station’s Twitter channel @talkSPORT shared a clip of Mills’ comments in which he said that the UEFA Super Cup, which the Reds claimed in August following their Champions League triumph last season, is “not a proper trophy“.
“The Super Cup doesn’t count! It’s like the Community Shield… it’s not a proper trophy.”
“No footballers or managers take those as a serious trophy.”

Mills told talkSPORT: “It’s like the Community Shield. It’s not a proper trophy, is it? Come on, let’s be honest. How many players, at the end of the season, go: ‘Oh yeah, I won the Super Cup’ or ‘I won the Community Shield’?
“I don’t think there’s any serious footballers or managers, well maybe Mourinho, that take that as a serious trophy.”
Klopp took the reins at Liverpool four years ago yesterday but had to wait until this year for his first piece of silverware at Anfield as the Reds became champions of Europe for a sixth time, before adding the UEFA Super Cup after their penalty shoot-out triumph over Chelsea in Istanbul two months ago in which Adrian saved the decisive spot kick.
Mills, who has won 19 England caps and played for Leeds and Manchester City, among other clubs, won just one trophy in his career, the League Cup in 2004 when he was with Middlesbrough.
