The champions of England were dealt a 4-0 hammering by Manchester City following their guard of honour at the Etihad.
Thursday’s defeat was a shock one for Liverpool, who breezed to the fastest ever Premier League title win, with seven games to spare (via ESPN). City’s win will be a huge confidence boost ahead of what promises to be an exciting title race next season.
After the match, Pep Guardiola commented on how Liverpool ‘didn’t even say thank you’ for their guard of honour (via Telegraph, relayed by @AnfieldEdition).

“I noticed they didn’t say thank you, they were straight in the game,” the Spaniard told reporters.
Reds fans have taken to Twitter to respond to Guardiola’s comments, with one tweeting ‘he really has lost it’. The guard of honour has been slammed by other Liverpool fans who feel City were reluctant to praise Liverpool on their success.

Why must they thank you as if you made them win the league? They’re deserved champions.
