Liverpool: Fans divided as James Pearce reports of interest in Nat Phillips

Liverpool have currently offloaded more players than they have made new signings in this transfer window, and they could be about to see another player leave the club.

According to a report from James Pearce in a recent transfer analysis report, the Reds could have a dilemma on their hands with Nat Phillips. The 23-year-old has attracted some interest from several clubs, with Bristol City named as one team vying for his services.

Liverpool could be tempted to send the reserve player out on loan or even cash in on a permanent move. Phillips transferred to the club’s youth side from Bolton under-23s back in 2016 but, in his four years at the club, he has only made one senior appearance.

The Bolton-born defender featured in Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Everton during their FA Cup run last season. Aside from his appearance in a youthful side that day, he has failed to break into Jurgen Klopp’s first team (via Transfermarkt).

Some fans are debating whether the centre-back has a future with the club, with one supporter saying there’s ‘no excuses’ for clubs not to pay cash upfront for Phillips. Another feels that a move away from Anfield was ‘always gonna happen’ due to his lack of game-time with the senior squad.
