The German tactician is currently without an established centre half at his disposal. Both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez picked up serious knee injuries at the beginning of the campaign, and Joel Matip continues to struggle with his own personal fitness issues.

Because of this, supporters feared the worst and some even blamed the club’s owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) and the majority shareholder John Henry after the update was relayed by @AnfieldEdition on Twitter.
