Liverpool: Fans hail ‘game changer’ Xherdan Shaqiri after West Ham victory

Lots of Liverpool fans showed their appreciation towards midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri after his side came from one goal down to beat West Ham United 2-1 last night.

The 29-year-old has been an outcast in Jurgen Klopp’s eyes for some time and is yet to start a Premier League game for the reigning champions this season (Whoscored).

During the 2019/20 campaign, he only started twice after a reoccurring calf injury hampered his progress in terms of breaking into the starting eleven.

However, Shaqiri’s introduction proved to be a genius move by Klopp after his eye-of-a-needle pass sent Diogo Jota through on goal to score the winner and send Liverpool to the top of the Premier League.

This could prove to be an eye-opener to the manager, who should now feel that Shaqiri could be in contention for places going forward, especially after scoring a superb free-kick against Lincoln City earlier in the season and being involved in the build-up to a goal against Sheffield United last weekend.
