Liverpool fans were full of praise for experienced defender Dejan Lovren after his assist for Divock Origi’s goal during their 5-2 victory against Everton on Wednesday.
The World Cup finalist launched a 50-yard pass over the top of the Toffees’ backline to his Belgian teammate, who brought the ball down with a delicate touch and lofted the ball over the head of the advancing Jordan Pickford.
That made the game 3-1, as the Reds found a lot of joy playing long balls against their hated neighbours, who moved into the relegation zone as a result of their defeat at Anfield.
Lovren, 30, has been subjected to criticism since he arrived from Southampton in 2014 but is admired by manager Jurgen Klopp.
Despite being guilty of being at fault for both of Everton’s goals, he ended up in the good books as he helped the Reds to victory in the derby.
Supporters were in awe of the Croatian’s long ball and made their feelings clear about it on social media.
