Young left-back Adam Lewis has penned a new long-term contract with Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to James Pearce, the 20-year-old is likely to be sent out on loan next season in order to gather up some first team experience. Lewis has made five appearances in the reserve league this campaign and also played a full 90 minutes in Liverpool’s FA Cup win over Shrewsbury back in February (via Transfermarkt).

The full-back joins fellow young defenders Neco Williams and Yasser Larouci who are also waiting for their opportunity to fully break into the first team. Williams has made ten appearances for the senior squad since the restart, including his first Premier League start against Brighton (as per Transfermarkt).
However, a lot of Reds fans are growing impatient with their lack of signings so far this summer. Many have lashed out over the contract extension update as they’d rather be hearing news on new recruits.
One supporter has tweeted ‘we don’t care’ whilst another has analysed Lewis’ playing style and likened him to their former left-back Alberto Moreno, suggesting he is good going forward but dodgy defensively. Indeed the Spaniard managed 11 assists and three goals at Liverpool but was consistently questioned about his defensive abilities.

By virtue of Klopp playing Williams at LB and not Lewis and Larouci should tell you something.

Haven’t seen much of him in u23 games, but in the senior games he’s looked similar to moreno. Good going forward and making needless reckless challenges in defence.
