Some Liverpool fans have expressed their desire to see much-maligned goalkeeper Loris Karius being given another chance at Anfield following the early termination of his loan with Besiktas this week.
As noted by Sky Sports [via @AnfieldWatch on Twitter], the German is now due to return to his parent club, whom he left on a two-year loan move to Turkey in 2018 after his error-strewn performance in the Reds’ Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid, over which he was the recipient of death threats.

Sky Sports added that Karius has endured some forgettable moments in his time at Besiktas as well but published a list of statistics about his time in Istanbul, some of which showed an improvement on this season from last. As noted by TransferMarkt, he has a lower concession rate in the Turkish league this year compared to 2018/19, going from 1.3 per game (39 goals in 30 matches) to 1.16 per game (29 goals in 25 matches).
Liverpool’s current second choice goalkeeper Adrian has also been culpable of glaring errors in recent weeks, notably in the Reds’ Champions League defeat at home to Atletico Madrid last month. These Reds fans on Twitter gave their backing to Karius, with one Kopite believing he would be a “great backup” to first choice ‘keeper Alisson.
