Liverpool’s 2-0 victory against West Ham on Wednesday night saw Mohamed Salah on the scoresheet once again with a penalty on the 35th minute, but it’s his lack of quality from direct free-kicks that got fans talking on Twitter.
According to Transfermarkt, the Egyptian hasn’t scored a single direct free-kick during a competitive match in his career, yet somehow Jurgen Klopp has decided to let him take them. He’s Liverpool’s top scorer so far this season on 16 goals, three in front of Sadio Mane, so perhaps the idea is to keep him firing.
He took one in the first half and many fans rushed onto Twitter to blast the strange decision. They tweeted to show just how confused they are about a man who’s never scored a free-kick being allowed to step up and take them when there’s clearly other players capable, including Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Why does Salah take our free kicks, it makes 0 sense

I guarantee no goal keeper is worried when Salah is standing over the free kick

Why is Salah still on free kicks can someone please explain it? It’s 2020 and he got to the club in 2017. He’s never put a free kick on target.
Am I missing something? Trent is 10x better either side.

Strange that Salah still takes all our free kicks when we have Trent?

The fact Salah still takes goal scoring opportunity free kicks for us is absolute criminal. Has he ever even got one on target

Not sure why we ever let Salah take free kicks, always either go well over the bar or hit the wall. Rather stick Van Dijk on them if it’s anyone other than Trent

Liverpool fans, who would you rather be taking free kicks than Mohamed Salah?
