Liverpool: Fans laud Andy Robertson after Aston Villa win

Liverpool came from a goal down to secure a crucial 2-1 victory against Aston Villa away from home on Saturday (via BBC Sport).

The Reds found themselves a goal down in the first half after Egyptian winger Trezeguet fired past Alisson, and it looked for all the world as though Jurgen Klopp’s side were going to lose their first match of the season as time ebbed away.

However, with 87 minutes gone, Scottish left-back Andy Robertson ghosted in at the back post and headed home from Sadio Mane’s cross to level the score, before the Senegal international then secured all three points with a winner in stoppage time.

Robertson’s performance, in particular, was singled out for praise by fans on social media, who were left drooling over the former Hull City man.

The 25-year-old was outstanding on the day and other than his goal he also played one key pass, made four clearances, two tackles and blocked one shot in the 90 minutes, earning him a WhoScored rating of 7.47.

The Scotland captain has been an ever-present this season, starting all 11 of the Reds’ league outings (Transfermarkt).

He is one of their most consistent performers, and several fans were raving about him following the win at Aston Villa with some even suggesting that he is the best left-back in the world at the moment…
