Liverpool: Fans loved Dejan Lovren’s admission about hitting Sergio Ramos

A number of Liverpool fans have hailed Dejan Lovren after he admitted that he purposely targeted Sergio Ramos during the 2018 Champions League final.

The Real Madrid defender notoriously tangled with Mohamed Salah in that match in Kiev, causing a shoulder injury to the Egyptian which forced the Reds winger into a tearful first half exit, as Zinedine Zidane’s side went on to win 3-1 (as per BBC).

In an interview with Sada El Balad [via Egypt Today], then-Liverpool defender Lovren admitted that he deliberately hit Ramos later in that match, saying: “I deliberately hit Ramos after hurting Salah? Yes, this is possible. I do not want to make a big story, but I think that what Ramos did was intentional to injure my friend, so it was It is time to pay for what he has done.”

The Croatian, who recently left Anfield to sign for Zenit St Petersburg, struck up a close friendship with Salah during their shared time at Liverpool, while the Egypt winger had netted 44 goals in that 2017/18 season, hence why his sabotaging by Ramos could be regarded as a seminal moment in the Champions League final.

Lovren attracted criticism from numerous Reds supporters over a series of mistakes in his time at Anfield but his comments about hitting the Real Madrid defender went down well with these Liverpool fans, one of whom was in doubt that the Croatian “loves the club”:
