Liverpool: Fans mock Carlo Ancelotti after refering to Istanbul during his post-match interview

Liverpool fans mocked Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti after he made an infamous reference following his side’s 2-2 draw against Newcastle United on Tuesday.

The Reds’ neighbours were 2-0 up against the Magpies going into stoppage time but two goals from Magpies centre-back Florian Lejeune in added time ensured that the Black and Whites went back to Tyneside with a point. Indeed, the three-time Champions League-winning boss then made a reference which tickled the Kop faithful.

Ancelotti, whose AC Milan side famously lost the 2005 European Cup final to Liverpool having been three up at half-time, made the comparison to Tuesday’s game to that infamous night in Eastern Europe. He told the press that he said to his players about the fact he has more experience and that he had lost the final of the Champions League, quoted by RTE. Supporters of the red half of Merseyside were in hysterics and made their feelings clear on social media.
