Liverpool’s pre-season is well and truly underway. The club has played three friendlies this summer already, beating Chester 7-0, Tranmere 3-2 and then drawing 0-0 to Bury. In that first thumping win over Chester, Alberto Moreno was the unlikely man thrown the captain’s armband and he’s been talking about it on the Liverpool website.
“It’s something that I’ll remember my whole life. All my family and friends were really happy for me.”

Alberto Moreno has not done much in his bid to win over the Liverpool fans. Most of the Kopites agree that he’s utterly useless and if it wasn’t for the resounding form of Andrew Robertson last season most of the Reds would be calling for Moreno to leave. Luckily for the Spaniard, Robertson has come in and excelled, meaning the future of the 26-year-old has gone under the radar and he will probably remain a Liverpool player.
Much like a number of fringe players, pre-season is the time where Moreno would be hoping to stake his claim and play his way into Jurgen Klopp’s first team. In the game he captained the Reds at The Vauxhall Stadium, Moreno was withdrawn at half-time as Klopp played two completely different elevens. The score at half-time was 2-0 and the five second-half goals gave the game it’s resounding scoreline, however, no one can take away from Moreno the fact that he’s captained Liverpool.
