Liverpool fans on Twitter are wishing key star luck ahead of massive Champions League clash

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to Loris Karius, who took to Twitter with the single word, ‘Matchday’. The Reds have been responding to their German shot-stopper’s tweet, wishing him well ahead of the biggest game of the season for the Anfield faithful. A big performance is key tonight as Liverpool find themselves just three wins away from their sixth Champions League/European Cup trophy.

Karius’ recent form has been what the fans expect of a goalkeeper wearing the Liver bird on their shirt. Earlier in the season and throughout the 2016/17 season, Karius and Simon Mignolet had both come under criticism for falling short of expectations. This season though, the German has usurped Mignolet and stepped up to the plate, with Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson enjoying superb debut seasons also playing a part in the club’s defensive resurgence this year.

The fans will be hoping that their club’s backline can continue in the way they’ve been performing recently, barring the 2-2 draw to West Brom on Saturday. Karius faces the job of keeping Roma’s Edin Dzeko, Cengiz Under, Stephan El Sharawaay and Radja Nainggolan all quiet tonight as Jurgen Klopp’s side will be hoping to get a solid lead to take to the Stadio Olimpico next week. The Kopites will be aiming to get the job done tonight, but there’s no doubting that it won’t be easy for Liverpool.
