Liverpool fans on Twitter desperate to sign Depay

Liverpool fans on Twitter have struggled without their club being in action this weekend and have instead had to settle for international matches. However, when The Netherlands faced Germany yesterday they were given a treat as two of their stars shone alongside the likes of Memphis Depay and they’ve been calling for the Lyon star to be brought to Anfield.

Memphis Depay is a name that most football fans will know owing to the attacker’s time at Old Trafford. After impressing everyone with his incredible goalscoring record from the left-wing with PSV Eindhoven, the 24-year-old decided to make the big step up to Old Trafford when Louis van Gaal came calling. However, it wasn’t a move that worked out and he was quickly dropped from the squad before being sold by Jose Mourinho.

His 18 months at Old Trafford could easily have ruined his career, although that simply isn’t the case as he’s been able to flourish in Ligue 1 with Lyon. Playing alongside the likes of Nabil Fekir and Tanguy Ndombele, the Dutchman has shone for his club and now looks to be carrying that form over to the national team as well. The next step for Memphis will be to look for a move to a big club and a switch to Anfield could be perfect now that he’s improved his game and matured as a player over the past two years.
