Whilst no one is doubting that Mo Salah is a superb goalscorer, he hasn’t been lauded for his ability to create goals. That was until this stat came out comparing his assist tally to that of Mesut Ozil’s since the Egyptian arrived back on English shores from Roma in summer 2017.
Since Mo Salah arrived in England, he has more assists in all competitions than Assist King Mesut Ozil (without mentioning his 51 goals)

Since signing for Liverpool, Mo Salah has scored 51 goals and registered 17 assists. Whilst no one is expecting Arsenal’s German creator to match Salah’s tally in front of goal, it would just be a given that he manages more assists. That hasn’t been the case at all, as Salah has set up 17 assists to Mesut Ozil’s 15, even though Salah has appeared in 21 more games.
The appearances factor is out of Salah’s control, though, and the fact that Ozil always seem to pull sickies won’t help his cause as he aims to retake his pot as the Premier League’s assist king. In fairness to both of them, they’re only coming to form now as the season and the festive season could see them both boosting their number for setting up teammates, and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top at the end of the season.
