RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has long been linked with a transfer to Liverpool with both Sadio Mane and Naby Keita endorsing the move earlier this month.
“It’s clear: Should he move, then I ask Timo to join us here at Liverpool,” Keita told Sport Bild (via ESPN) when asked about his former team-mate’s future.
“I’d advise him to join Liverpool. I like his style of play. Very forceful, good finish, always giving it 100 percent. If he wants to join us, we’d welcome him to our team,” Keita’s current team-mate Mane echoed.
However, according to Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk, the Liverpool duo are unlikely to get their wish with Bayern Munich making progress in their attempts to sign the 22-year-old.
Given Jurgen Klopp’s current options up front away from Roberto Firmino and how perfectly suited Werner is to his style of play, missing out on the Germany international would come as a huge blow.
