Liverpool: Fans heap praise on sporting director Michael Edwards after Takumi Minamino deal

According to The Independent, Liverpool have secured a deal for Red Bull Salzburg attacking midfielder Takumi Minamino to join in January, and it’s just the latest in a number of masterstrokes by sporting director Michael Edwards.

The deal is thought to be a worth a measly £7.25m – and considering his two goals and three assists in the Champions League so far this season, it looks like a bargain.

Since Edwards was appointed by the club, he’s managed to recoup £19m for Dominic Solanke and what could rise to £8m for Kevin Stewart. In a deal linked to Stewart’s, he bought Andy Roberston from Hull City for £8m, but before that, sold Jordon Ibe for £16m. He’s an incredibly shrewd operator and Takumi Minamino would boost his reputation even more.

Fans saw the news when it was posted on Twitter, and they couldn’t help but praise their sporting director for the great job he’s been doing. They replied to tweets from Liverpool fan account Empire of the Kop and Reds news aggregator Anfield Watch to express how happy they are with him.
