Liverpool: Fans react to absence of Joao Felix from their Champions League Last 16 clash

These Liverpool fans mocked Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix after he is set to miss Tuesday’s Champions League Last 16 encounter at the Wanda Metropolitano.

The Reds are not unfamiliar to this stage, of course. Indeed, Jurgen Klopp’s side lifted their sixth European crown at El Atleti’s home as they beat Tottenham 2-0 in last season’s final and they are set to make a return to the venue once more and received a boost as the Merseyside club prepared for the encounter.

Goal reported that the £90m-rated striker (as per TransferMarkt) will sit out of the first leg in Madrid after failing to recover from illness. This comes after Felix was almost recovered from a muscle injury he sustained during a 0-0 draw against Leganes, which saw him miss the last three games. Despite this, supporters did not rate the Portuguese forward and made sarcastic comments on social media. One fan said “advantage Atleti” following the announcement, after scoring just four goals in 24 appearances since his £113m move from Benfica in the summer.
