Liverpool: Fans react to footage of Simon Mignolet during his time at the club

A lot of Liverpool fans are reflecting on former goalkeeper Simon Mignolet after a fan posted a clip on Twitter showing a mistake he made during his time at the club.

The footage shows Mignolet holding onto the ball for around 22 seconds, which is not allowed and therefore the referee gave the opposition, who was French side Bordeaux, an indirect free-kick, which they managed to score from.

The 32 year-old moved to Liverpool from Sunderland for £9.54 million in 2014 and made 204 appearances for the Reds, keeping 66 clean sheets, per Transfermarkt, but fans always expected more as the Belgian would be a great shot stopper on his day but always had an error in him, this was summed up by his Capital One Cup Performance in 2016, via The Guardian.

The mistake gave Manchester City their only goal in the game but it was enough to take the game to penalties after being 1-1 after extra time, and City won on penalties.

Now Mignolet is playing in his home nation at Club Brugge, and he is arguably playing his best football there, as he has only conceded 13 goals and also kept 16 clean sheets in 27 games, per Transfermarkt.
