The German tactician was speaking in advance of last night’s Premier League clash against Sheffield United as they sat top of the standings, ahead of the likes of Leicester City and Manchester City.

Klopp has already moved his first chess piece in the window having signed the RB Salzburg winger Takumi Minamino for £7.25m.

With the club not making any first-team additions in the summer, the Stuttgart-born coach was asked about any possible incoming players in the next month.

During the 2018/19 pre-season, Klopp said that Loris Karius was his number one goalkeeper going into that campaign, only for him to bring in AS Roma’s Alisson Becker for £66.9m just weeks later.

Supporters took the words as if the club would be making a signing in the January transfer window and listed several players that could be making the move to Anfield during the midway point of the season.

Household names such as Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe and Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho were mentioned after both players have previously been linked with a move to the club. Another name was a return for the former fan favourite Philippe Coutinho, who left to join Barcelona in January 2018 for £142m.

Here you will find some of the many comments from Liverpool fans:
