Liverpool have completed the signing of Takumi Minamino from Red Bull Salzburg, a transfer which will go through on 1st January.
The Reds activated a release clause in the 24-year-old’s contract, meaning that they have paid just £7.25 million for his services (BBC Sport).
He has signed a deal which runs until the summer of 2024 at Anfield and claimed that it was “a dream” for him to be joining Liverpool (BBC Sport).
Minamino arrives on Merseyside having produced some excellent performances for the Austrian outfit this season. Indeed he had scored nine goals and provided 11 assists in 22 appearances across all competitions and even scored against the Reds at Anfield back in October (Transfermarkt).
He will become the third player in the current squad to play for both Salzburg and Liverpool, with Sadio Mane and Naby Keita having also represented the Austrian outfit.
Salzburg’s official Twitter account made light of this fact after the Minamino deal was complete, posting an image of the trio with the caption “Hey @LFC, who’s next?”
Plenty of Liverpool fans loved the light-hearted tweet and have been reacting to it. Here is what some had to say…
