Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Shrewsbury meant that the Reds lost a two-goal lead in what seemed like a pretty routine win until the home side got their first from the penalty spot. Liverpool looked like they had luck on their side when their second goal went in, with Donald Love scoring an own goal much to the amusement of the away fans.
He got on the end of an aerial cross and tapped it into the bottom corner as if he was a centre-forward. It’ll go down as one of the best own goals all season, but it was Shrewsbury who were laughing in the end now that they’ll have the chance to play at Anfield for a place in the next round. It’s also been confirmed by Jurgen Klopp that no senior players will play in the game and he won’t be the manager for the fixture.
The Liverpool Twitter account reacted excitedly saying “GGOOOOAAAAALLLLL! DONALD LOVE WITH AN OWN GOAL!”. Many fans then replied to the tweet to poke fun at the goal.
