Liverpool: Fans reflect on Steven Gerrard’s strike against Sheffield United

Liverpool fans have been looking back on Sheffield United’s last visit to Anfield and Steven Gerrard’s strike during their 4-0 win over Neil Warnock’s side during the 2006/07 campaign.

The Reds coasted to victory on Merseyside that followed shortly after they knocked Barcelona out of the Champions League despite losing 1-0 at home to the Catalan giants.

Two first-half penalties from Robbie Fowler and an effort from Sami Hyypia meant that Liverpool took all three points from the affair and moved them four points ahead of Arsenal in fourth place.

But it was the captain’s goal that got fans talking – he touched the ball around the Sheffield United defender and tucked his shot into the bottom corner to score the fourth goal of the afternoon.

Supporters were in awe of Gerrard’s contribution against the Blades and made their feelings clear on social media.
