Liverpool fans remained optimistic despite a setback in their side’s pursuit for the RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.
The Reds have no plans to sign the Bundesliga forward in the January transfer window but will continue to watch the Germany international’s development, according to Bild (via Sky Sports), with Chelsea included in a number of top clubs that are interested in his services. As his future remains in doubt at Die Roten Bullen (as per football.london), his preference is to move to Anfield with a £51m release clause.

The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to Anfield but is a key player for the German side and has scored 25 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions for Leipzig during the current campaign. As a result, his team sit four points clear at the top of the Bundesliga standings ahead of Bayern Munich. With that in mind, supporters remained upbeat about the Reds’ chances of capturing Werner and made their feelings clear on social media.
