The late former Liverpool manager Bill Shankly was remembered by the club on the occasion of what would have been his 106th birthday.
Liverpool’s official Twitter channel @LFC acknowledged the birth of one of the club’s longest-serving managers of all time, who was born on September 2nd, 1913.

Shankly became the Reds’ manager in 1959 when the club were in the old Second Division and went on to win a succession of major trophies in a 15-year reign at Anfield, including three league titles, two FA Cups and a UEFA Cup.
He also took Liverpool to the semi-finals of the European Cup in 1965 and the final of the European Cup Winners’ Cup the following year.
Shankly, who died in 1981, is commemorated at Anfield by a statue outside The Kop and the cast-iron Shankly Gates at the front of the Anfield Road stand.
