Liverpool fans have been sharing their memories of their last encounter against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup.
The Reds were drawn to face Bristol City or the Shrews in the fourth round of the domestic competition after beating their neighbours Everton 1-0 at Anfield on Sunday.
A stunning curled effort from Curtis Jones was enough to see the red half of Merseyside conqueror their arch-rivals for the second time in three years in the tournament.
After the sad death of club legend Bob Paisley in 1996, Roy Evan’s side went to Gay Meadow to face Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup, which was the first game since his passing.

Liverpool won 4-0 and goals from Stan Collymore, Robbie Fowler, Jason McAteer and an own goal from Shrewsbury’s David Walton ensured that the Reds advanced to the next stage during the 1995/96 season, where they would go on to lose the final against Manchester United 1-0 at the old Wembley Stadium.

I went on home end ticket, fan behind me was saying what a waste of money Collymore was and why big clubs paid over the odds for players, 2 minutes later, Stan scored that goal!! Had to laugh!
