Liverpool: Fans blast Trent Alexander-Arnold’s performance against Sheffield United

Many Liverpool fans criticised defender Trent Alexander-Arnold for his performance during the Reds’ 2-1 victory over Sheffield United last night.

The 22-year-old started his sixth league encounter of the season as the Reds attempted to return to winning ways domestically.

Jurgen Klopp’s side racked up three points but made hard work of it and were far from their best. Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota claimed the goals to secure the win after falling behind following yet more VAR controversy. Fabinho was deemed to have fouled Oliver McBurnie inside the box but replays showed that the incident actually took place outside of the 18-yard area.

Liverpool’s overall display was littered with individual errors, and Alexander-Arnold was part of that mix. During the 90 minutes, the £99m-rated right-back (TransferMarkt) gave away possession 26 times, only completed three out of eight crosses and did not win a single tackle (Sofascore).

With this in mind, some supporters were not impressed with his defensive play and his lack of efficiency with the ball, making their feelings clear on social media.
