The Reds were unable to register a win against rivals Everton in their long-awaited return to Premier League action.
Liverpool struggled to find their groove at Goodison Park and spoils were shared after 90 minutes saw out a disappointing 0-0 Merseyside derby result.
Jurgen Klopp opted for a shift in his starting personnel, including the introduction of Takumi Minamino over top scorer Mohamed Salah. The South Korea international, who joined the club from RB Salzburg in January, was taken off in replace of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after a quiet first half.

Reds fans weren’t overly impressed with Minamino’s shift against the Blues, with one supporter suggesting ‘he clearly doesn’t want to play’ as a winger. Indeed, operating on the wing didn’t seem to suit the 25-year-old in the derby, despite that being his more natural position. According to Sofascore, Minamino failed to muster up a single shot on target, cross or key pass. He also struggled in possession, completing just 11 passes overall and losing the ball seven times.

Good but should never start as a winger again

He was ok but unfortunately I don’t think he’s a top level player. His positional awareness seemed strange at times

Offered no threat. No running behind so he didn’t push the defenders back like Salah does which meant trent couldn’t get forward. Everton’s defence may as well have been in deck chairs lol. #Minamino #LFC

Should be played as a false nine only. Not a Liverpool winger at all.
