Liverpool: Fans slate Chris Sutton after claiming the Reds have had “favourable decisions”

Loads of Liverpool fans have fired back at pundit Chris Sutton after suggesting that Jurgen Klopp’s side have had some “favourable decisions” this season.

The former Celtic striker watched as the Reds extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to 22 points after their 4-0 victory over Southampton on Saturday, with Manchester City unable to keep up after falling to a 2-0 defeat versus Tottenham. The visitors were denied a penalty as Fabinho was adjudged to have brought down Danny Ings before Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored the opening goal of the day.

Sutton told BBC Sport (cited by Anfield Watch) that the referee made a clear error by not awarding a spot-kick to the Saints and that Liverpool have been getting some “favourable decisions” for the entirety of this season. He hinted that the Merseysiders could be becoming the new Manchester United after going a period without conceding a penalty. Supporters laughed at Sutton’s suggestion and made their feelings clear on social media.
