Liverpool: Fans sympathise with Takumi Minamino despite slow start at Anfield

Liverpool fans have sympathised with midfielder Takumi Minamino following his slow start to life at Anfield since his January move.

The Japan international made his Premier League debut during his side’s 2-1 win against Wolves and then started during the 2-2 draw against Shrewsbury Town on Sunday, admitting in that timeframe that he was not happy with how he performed. Minamino joined from RB Salzburg for £7.25m at the beginning of the winter window as he continues to settle in on Merseyside.

The 25-year-old was praised by manager Jurgen Klopp despite being disappointed by his expectations, describing his outing as a “super start”, but was blasted by some segments of the fanbase. However, others felt sorry for him and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he just needs time to settle down and he will become “amazing”.
