When Daniel Agger was a Liverpool player he quickly established himself as a fan favourite. The Danish defender is 34-years-old now and has hung up his boots, but he will always be welcomed warmly back at Anfield after he spent seven and a half years on Merseyside either side of when he started and ended his career at Brondby.
On this day in 2006, Liverpool signed Daniel Agger from Brøndby for £5.8million.

Agger was part of the Liverpool side that won the League Cup in 2011 and that is the one major honour he managed to pick up when he was on Merseyside. However, he made an impressive 232 appearances, with 175 of them coming in the Premier League, and he bagged 14 goals for the Reds despite being a central defender, something that the fans always loved seeing.
The Danish defender probably came along at the wrong time for the Reds. His time at Liverpool was spent whilst the Kopites weren’t the powerhouse that they aren’t now, and it’s fair to say that all of the fans would have loved to have seen him playing in his prime during this current Reds side, as he would make a superb partner for Virgil van Dijk in this title-chasing Liverpool team.

The Reds will always love Agger and would love to see him back at Anfield in some capacity later on in his retirement.
