When Jurgen Klopp made the move to bring in 16-year-old Ki-Jana Hoever from Ajax over the summer, not many Liverpool fans took notice, assuming that it would be years until they saw him in action. However, the Dutch defender made his debut off the bench yesterday, and the Kopites are realising that they have a real player on their hands.

The ex-Ajax man has been making football fans everywhere feel old as he was born in 2002. However, age is just a number and if you’re good enough then you’re old enough, which is why Klopp would have had no hesitation to substitute on the Dutch defender after just six minutes when Dejan Lovren, the only recognised centre-back on the pitch for Liverpool, had to come off with injury.
That leaves Klopp in something of a sticky situation in the Premier League as he only has Virgil van Dijk available in the heart of his defence. A lot of the Kopites would have no qualms with seeing Klopp throw Hoever in at the deep end on Saturday now, though. The youngster showed what he can do against Wolves, and if he can step up at Molineux then there’s no reason why he can’t do the same job at The Amex Stadium on Saturday.

You can see he will be a star. Very calm, assured player for a 16 year old

The Reds have nothing but positive words to say about Hoever, and will hope the youngster can feature on Saturday in the Premier League.
