If Liverpool were to cut the season off now and announce their player of the season award, the chances are Georginio Wijnaldum would be one of the top picks. When the likes of Naby Keita and Fabinho came in over the summer the fans thought the Dutchman would struggle for minutes, but he’s only got better and better.
What a performance by Fabinho today. Who was your MOTM?

The level of performance from Wijnaldum was absolutely class yesterday, and whilst he won’t get mentioned by the mainstream media seeing as the Reds’ newbies Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri are getting all the glory, the fans have taken to Twitter to laud their man. Any doubts over Wijnaldum have been put to bed this season, and the supporters will be desperate for more of the same.
One of the key aspects of Wijnaldum’s game is his sheer versatility. The Dutchman has racked up over 50 caps for his country and his ability to play anywhere on the pitch shows why. When signed from Newcastle, the 28-year-old was viewed as #10, or at least an attacking midfielder. However, the campaign so far has seen him feature as a box-to-box option and in defensive midfield, and it’s easy to see why the fans have been raving over him.
